Leash laws
I live in rural Sunrise Beach. We have a new neighbor coming and they have a pit bull. I have seen the dog at the house they currently live in. It barks at me everytime I walk by if it is tied outside. I walk everyday for 1 hour. Now these people are planning to move next door. The dog has run after me when it is not tied. Now it will be within sight of my house and everytime I go out I could be attacked. The owner says " oh, he will not bite" but with the way it barks and growls when I am near I am not so sure.
With a leash law at least I would have some recourse when the dog is allowed to run free. Even if the police will not troll for stray dogs, I would be able to call them to enforce having the dog restained.
I am from a rural area and they have a leash law that works. Some people don't like it, but when someone is injured they should be held responsible.

I believe you have a right to shoot a dog that comes on to your property, if you have warned the person and they continue to let the dog run loose you should do what you need to do to keep yourself and your family safe. You should not have to worry about walking out your door. No one should let their dogs leave their property, country or not. Anyone can have a dog escape so I wouldn't advocate just killing any animal you see but consistent disregard of the rights of others I think would give you the right to do what you must. I LOVE animals but unfortunately their owners are not always reponsible!
